This is birthday card class #3 in my series for the new year! We all need birthday cards, and it's always nice to have a stash on hand! Tonight I featured cards and a gift bag made with the free Salabration Paper - Favored Flowers.  I also used the coordinating Fragrant Flowers Bundle from the Mini Catalog. Together you can make some gorgeous floral cards and projects!

This first card showcases two different patterns of the DSP and the large floral die cut. (Yes, a couple of the sheets have floral images that can be cut out with coordinating dies). 

And here is a Birthday version of that card. The sentiment is from the Celebrate With Tags set:

I love the Fresh Freesia with the Black Background and touches of Evening Evergreen.

The second card is a Slide and Lock Card:

And here is the birthday card version:

The Slide and Lock Mechanism is hidden between two layers of one of the Scalloped Contours Dies which enables it to be slid up and down or off the card.

To create the mechanism:

Die cut two tags with the middle Scalloped Contours Die:

From Basic White Cardstock cut out two pieces 3 5/8" x 2 1/4". Score each one on the short side at 1 1/8" down the middle and fold in half:

Adhere one of them to one side of one of the die cuts with the opening facing to the outside:

Add the other 3 5/8" x 2 1/4" folded piece of Basic White Cardstock to the other side with the opening facing outward:

Next glue the remaining die cut to the top of the layers.

This is what it looks like looking down on it. Notice the open "wings" on each side.  This is how you slide it.

Gift Bag and Card:

This gift bag has a matching card that hangs on the bag. The card is made with designer series paper left over from creating the gift bag!
