HOW TO MAKE A LARGE EXPLOSION CARD MADE WITH 6X6 DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

I have really enjoyed making these large explosion cards, but wanted to make one using the Flowers for Every Season DSP, which is 6 x 6". Since the original card recipe calls for a piece of DSP that's 5 1/2 x 11, I decided to figure out how to use the 6 x 6 DSP. Acknowledgement goes to Dawn Griffith at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts for the original Large Explosion Card recipe!

Here is the inside when it's opened:

Here's what you need to make this:

PAPER:

11 X 5 1/2" Magnificent Magenta, scored on each end (11" side) at 2 3/4"; scrap pieces of Magnificent Magenta for 3 daisy blooms; Misty Moonlight for mat layer on outside (2) 5 3/8 x 2 5/8"; Misty Moonlight for inside mat layer 3 5/8 x 3 5/8; Misty Moonlight for die cut front piece 5 x 4; Whisper W;hite card stock for inside sentiment 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"; Whisper White for belly band, 12 x 1"; Whisper White for sentiment on front 3 3/8 x 2 1/8"Flower for Every Season DSP for outside panels (2) 5 1/4 x 2 1/2"; Flowers for Every Season DSP for inside (2) 6 x 6 pieces of the same pattern.

STAMPS:

Lovely You for outside; So Sentimental for inside.

INK:

Misty Moonlight

TOOLS:

Large Daisy punch; Paper Trimmer; Multipurpose liquid glue; Ornate Layers Dies; Dimensionals; Tear and Tape

EMBELLISHMENTS:

Playing With Patterns Resin Dots

DIRECTIONS:

Cut and score card base from Magnificent Magenta (Score at 2 3/4" on each end).

Score one end of 6" DSP at 1/2". Lay Tear and Tape along this and adhere other 6" piece to it, matching the same pattern on each side. Cut off extra 1/2" on one end of this long piece so seam where papers are attached is in the middle of this long piece. Score at each end (11" side) at 2 3/4".

Now fold top corner of left side to bottom of center seam; fold lower corner of left side to top of center seam; fold top corner of right side to bottom of center seam; fold lower corner of right side to top of center seam. You should have an X pattern on each side.

Stamp sentiments.

Layer inside sentiment piece on Misty Moonlight mat and adhere to inside of explosion piece.

Glue back of explosion piece and adhere to center of card.

Glue each side of explosion piece and close sides of card base on each so they adhere to the card base. The inside of the card is done.

Layer the side panels on the Misty Moonlight mat piece and adhere to front.

Glue front white piece to die cut Misty Moonlight layer.

Punch 3 daisies with large Daisy punch. Bend petals slightly up and layer the daisies on top of each other. Add resin dots to center. Add to front sentiment piece.

Gently fold belly band strip around card and adhere to form the band. Don't make it too tight.

Layer dimensionals along back of front sentiment and add to belly band.

Card is done!!

EXPLOSION CARD TUTORIAL

I love to try out new card designs and this is one I really love! It will be so much fun to give to a friend to open and "explode!"

Credit goes to Dawn Griffith at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts for the inspiration for this card, for which she has a video tutorial.

This one below is a small explosion card and it will fit into a medium size Stampin' Up! envelope:

Whale Done Get Well Card That Will Brighten Someone's Day!!

This is a get well card that's bright and fun to make. This fun fold pattern is great for using up DSP, and I've shown it before. But this time I wanted to try it with the Whale Done stamp set and Whale of a Time DSP. Since you need a 11 3/4 x 5 1/4" piece of DSP for your base, and because the Whale of a Time DSP is only 6 x6, I've used paper from the Artistry Blooms set. The piece I used from Artistry Blooms has coral and blue hues, so it goes great with the Whale DSP.

Here's how the fun begins:

Card base - Artistry Blooms DSP, 11 3/4 x 5 1/4" scored at 1 3/4, 4 3/4 , 7 3/4". Layer on base piece of Calypso Coral card stock, 5 1/4 x 4". Whale of a Time DSP on first flap is 1 5/8 x 5 1/8. Granny Apple Green card stock on second flap is 5 1/2 x 2 5/8". Whale of a Time DSP for this piece is 5 x 2 1/2" Inside Whisper White sentiment piece is 5 x 2 1/2.

Stamps: Whale Done, Positive Thoughts, Gorgeous Posies

Ink: Pacific Point, Memento black for Whale, Calypso Coral for heart on label

Whale Done Fun Fold Card With Rainbow Glimmer Paper

I just got the Whale Done suite! Oh my! So much fun! The Whale of a Time DSP is just beautiful! I have used a lot of it in this fun fold card. I've also punched the whales on this card from the shimmery Rainbow Glimmer paper. Between the sparkly whales and the beautiful DSP, this card is an eye catcher!

I used almost a whole sheet of the DSP on the inside, just to feature the awesome ocean scenary:

Using Tasteful Touches Stamp Set to Create a Background

I want to show how you can use the same background created with Tasteful Touches stamp set for another card! The background on this card is the same exact background I used on the card I featured yesterday. The Tasteful Textures stamp set has great images for background stamping!

Here is the card I made for today. It's a baby card featuring the bunnies and sentiments from Wildly Happy stamp set, but the background is exactly the same as the card I made yesterday. (See my previous post).

Love how it turned out. I used the Stitched so Sweetly dies for the sentiments.

SIP (Stamps, Ink Paper) Card With Tasteful Touches Stamp Set

Another pretty card with Tasteful Touches stamp set, and this one is a SIP card! SIP stands for stamps, ink, and paper. A simple card made without using dies, embossing folders, etc. I have to admit, it's hard for me to make a SIP card...I always want to jazz it up. I did use a few rhinestones in the center of the flowers, but I'm giving myself a pass on that!

And here is a close up:

The flowers were stamped in Rococo Rose Ink on Blushing Bride card stock and then fussy cut with snips. I used Rococo Rose ink to stamp the feathers and Basic Gray for the other design. Sentiment is stamped in Memento Black ink.
